New Staircase in Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex
The team have finished a project for a residential customer in which we crafted and fitted a new staircase for their home. The local customer had planning permission to take down old inhabitable dwellings and construct a brand new building that was to be their new family home.

The New Staircase
We constructed the client’s new staircase from American Oak. The staircase has stop-chamfered newels and spindles as well as a cut string. This installation features a single bull noise tread and riser detail on the bottom/first step.
There are two quarter landing areas which are constructed from tongue and groove landing boards. Our team also manufactured and installed the balustrading to the same specification for all of the landing areas at the property too.
We constructed the handrail. It was mortised and then tenoned in between the newel posts. The base rail was also cut in between the newel posts. The staircase was created in our workshop and then dry fitted before we took it to the site to install.
Dry fitting is a type of quality control assessment that we undertake. Dry fitting the stairs is where our Joiners assemble the stairs completely without using adhesives to ensure tight-fitting joints and minimal work on-site when installing. We want to ensure that the installation runs as smoothly as possible as not to cause any hold-ups or delays. Our goal is to ensure that we develop stunning home improvements with smooth and straight forward installations. We do not want you to have delays on-site.
This was quite a simple staircase design. Our manufacturing and installation went smoothly. Overall this took us a single week to make and only a couple of days to install. We made sure to liaise with our clients to ensure that we were incorporating any last minute changes or thoughts they had.
For example, initially, the homeowners wanted the balustrading and spindles to be metal. As we started to undertake the project, the client’s thoughts changed. Our expert designers were able to create mock-up drawings and quotations that reflected all their ideas before they came down to a final decision for their new build home in Stanford-Le-Hope.
