Nightingale Joinery received a recent enquiry from a distinguished client in need of a curved staircase made from Oak. The client aimed to establish a central feature in one of their holiday lodges, seamlessly combining sophistication and practicality. Our team was entrusted with the design and construction of a unique curved staircase, ensuring it not only exuded aesthetic appeal but also adhered to the utmost standards of craftsmanship.

Design Specifications:

Material: Solid KD European Prime Grade Oak was chosen for its durability, exquisite grain patterns, and timeless aesthetic appeal.

Strings: The staircase featured 40 mm cut strings, providing structural integrity while contributing to the overall design.

Treads: Each tread measured 40 mm, and a 4 mm radius nosing was incorporated for a smooth transition between steps, enhancing both safety and visual appeal.

Risers: With a height of 20 mm, the risers complemented the treads, creating a harmonious and balanced look.

Newel Posts: The staircase was anchored by 125 mm square newel posts, featuring a sanded top for a refined finish. These newel posts served as essential structural elements while adding a touch of sophistication.

Handrail: A key element in the design was the handrail, crafted from a 100 x 60 mm profile. 

Balustrade: The balustrade was constructed using 20 x 20 mild steel. 

Finish: The staircase was delivered sanded only, allowing the client to choose the final finish according to their preferences.

The completed curved staircase surpassed the client’s expectations, becoming a striking centerpiece in their residence.
